Hello I’m Keith Skelton,
I’ve been Online since the inception of the Internet.. At that time I ran a successful Plastics Company which I’d started 20 years before from the Grass Roots up.
My Plastics Company became a Leader in its Market Niche but not without many sleepless nights and tight liquidity.. The 3 recessions I struggled through didn’t help but expanded my knowledge and today I really know how to manage a business through ‘thick-n-thin’
I successfully continued the development of my Plastics Company business until I sold out to a large Corporation in 2000 and decided to retire early.
My staff were successfully integrated into the New business and after due Diligence of 2 years I moved out and started my Online Marketing business..
I couldn’t sit still.!
I must admit that from my relatively slow start in Marketing ON-Line and my lack of knowledge of Website Marketing in general.. I couldn’t decide in which direction I should go..
Many said and I believe it to be true ‘use the knowledge you already have’ !
In my case it spanned many experiences and had so many options that I became paralysed in choosing a course of action..
It wasn’t until I talked about my dilemma to my buddies at my Tennis Club that it crystallized into a course of action..
I decided that I should make my knowledge available to anyone wanting to start out and run their own business from the get-go – ‘on or offline’ and act as a mentor – something I would have appreciated when I started out..!
I remember when I started my own business long before that it was almost by accident that I got into plastics and had I sat and thought it through which direction to take I wouldn’t have know how my life would have been shaped by the eventual course destiny choose for me
I remember being so full of energy and enthusiasm that it didn’t matter what destiny had chosen.. I embraced my new freedom running my own business.. It was electrifying and has remained that way ever since..!
Running your own business is not for everyone but there’s one common thread.. You NEED to have the mindset that will embrace you and propel you forward despite what the universe throws at you
Running an OFF-line business requires a great deal of capital and has a great risk of failure with bad financial implications for the owner.. You need to protect yourself and realise that not everything is under your direct control.. The economy can turn down and affect sales as is happening now.. Over committing yourself to ‘Leases’ be they for premises of plant and equipment can send you into liquidation if you haven’t developed a realistic ‘business plan’ . It’s vital to work with it to show you the way through dark times..
So many things to consider and cope with emotionally that you need to be equipped with the right information and nerve.. Not nearly so severely in the case of an ON-Line business.!
The similarities between the two styles of business is not far removed from one another when it comes to ‘SALES’ – Every business needs sales.! But it’s HOW you go about producing these sales that the advantages are heavily weighted in favour of ON-Line business..
Just consider for one moment how many potential prospects you can access online at any given time that WILL buy your products.. The costs are so low compared to techniques you’ll need to employ OFF-Line.?
How much will you need to commit financially with an ON-Line business.?
I can answer that this way – You’ll probably run an ON-Line business at 1 or 2% of the costs an OFF-Line business
Somehow people have got into their heads that a HOME BASED Business has a stigma attached to it and only discussed in whispers.. NOT at ALL – Please believe me that you’ll be so happy running this Style of Business from your computer that you’ll kick yourself for not starting sooner.!
I know the difficulty is finding a direction.?
As I described earlier.. You’ll never know until you get involved and you begin to create options and opportunities for yourself. Looking from the outside – In.. You’ll find it difficult to find a direction – Niche – My advise just get involved.!
Let me show you how diverse you can become by showing you inside my world – For instance I designed a High Ranking Website relying entirely on SEO traffic selling Christmas Trees and decor for shopping centres and big businesses.. Go figure.!
Sold lots of artificial Trees this year and last and tend to dominate the niche in my area.. Never done it before but lined up a couple of suppliers and teams of installers and I did the sales just like any AFFILIATE but it’s MY business running from my ON-Line activity that produces results.
I also sell ‘Security’ devices and protection from a Website that I designed.. Does very well in my area and intend to do more than rely on SEO traffic this year.. Again MY BUSINESS employs others at their expense bridging the divide between ON and OFF Line businesses.
I also run a HOSTING business that gives away Websites providing my Client signs for 12month Hosting contract.. Small set up fee but costs are competitive with market trends..
But my favourite is COACHING people HOW to Market online..!
Starting out marketing ON-Line has a very steep learning curve.. Even if you choose the right Niche it’s yet another story with Marketing and Finding Prospects plus Designing a ‘CONVERTING’ and ‘SUCCESSFUL’ Website.
This will be your ‘INVESTMENT’ in an ON-Line business – You can go two ways with HOW you achieve an ON-Line business..
- The First.. Get others to do the work on your behalf.. You’ll need to pay them but it’s usually professionally done and gets you earning online quickly as you rely on their inside knowledge to achieve success..
- Second you can LEARN to do it yourself.. Investment is in your TIME and EFFORT..
It will take time make no mistake but you can fast track this by teaming up with other knowledgeable people with whom you can make a working friendship.. You’ll need to invest a small amount as and when you can afford it to propel your knowledge to the next level by buying into ‘COACHING’ programs..
I went the second route as I’ve always needed to understand and frankly it gives me more enjoyment.. I have FUN with my ON-line activity.. My knowledge of HOW to do things was overcome years ago and doesn’t get in my way anymore.. Not to say that I never stop learning.
It’s a little like learning to drive – The method of controlling the Motorcar is foremost in your mind when you first start learning to drive.. After a while as you gain experience this diminishes and your attention is directed to the Road and conditions outside your Car.
ON-Line techniques associated with Marketing will get in your way at first- like how to write HTML etc
Later, you’ll become more cantered upon writing the BEST copy or producing the most informative Video and getting this to the Market quickly to start picking up Prospects and Converting them to Buyers..
This is when you’ll have a Business just like the people on the High Street.!
